Rada has education covered in depth

Rada – the commercial division of Kohler Mira – has compiled a suite of products ideally suited to the demanding needs of the education sector – whether they be safety, security or hygiene. The collection encompasses digital water control devices, anti-vandal showering, washbasin taps and ancillary products.

At the heart of Rada’s certified thermostatic mixer valve (TMV) offer is the company’s T-LogicTM digital intelligence; which allows the user to operate, communicate and exchange information with the valve to better underwrite safety, hygiene and control.

Leading the T-LogicTM TMV range is the Sense digital water control system – the UK’s first infra-red, no touch control panel for both water flow and temperature control. Sense offers a unique combination of safety, hygiene and absolute thermal control and even features an inbuilt thermal disinfection function with secure activation, which together with an automatic duty flush cycle – the frequency of which can be altered to suit individual site requirements – ensure risks of infection and contamination from water borne bacteria are minimised.

Its concealed electronic mixing unit allows the building manager to pre-set flow and temperature parameters to suit a particular application need as required.

The mixing unit is supplied factory-set to comply with TMV3 safe temperature settings. This promotes safety in areas where users are vulnerable or where there is a duty of care to the young.

Aesthetics are also an important part of the Rada Sense package and the stylish wall mounted control panel – whether for showers or basins – will look as much at home in a new, state-of-the-art school as in a sports club or leisure centre.

Obviously, education environments can bear heavily on showering facilities and Rada offers a range of tough, durable ‘school proof’ pre-plumbed shower panels. Ready to install, there are a number of variants in the range, depending on whether the panel is designed to be connected to a thermostatic mixing valve and accept blended water (group showering); or whether the panel has its own built-in thermostatic mixing valve (individual showering). All are available equipped with VR105 vandal resistant fixed showerheads; and come in either stainless steel or white powder coated finishes.

Control choices from a mechanical timed flow ‘basic’ version to fully TMV3 approved thermostatic units. At 1.2m in length, the panels are 20% longer than competitive items, making the shower controls lower and ideally suited for use by children or the less able.

Key features of the design are safety, ease of installation and quick, low cost maintenance. Concealed pipe work and valves protect the user from exposure to high surface temperatures; while a unique locating hook mechanism enables `one man fit'. The panels' integral isolators and lower height fitting provide for easy and speedy maintenance. Finally, being concealed in robust stainless steel units, the valves and pipe can resist the effects of heavy usage or wilful vandalism.

Other products in Rada’s comprehensive range that lend themselves to education environments include: mechanical mixing valves, mechanical and electronic timed flow controls; discrete vandal resistant shower fittings; and a wide range of TMV taps and deck- or wall-mounted basin spouts.
Backed by Rada’s unrivalled quality, reliability and service; the ranges – outlined in the new eight-page publication Education: Shower and Washroom Controls – are guaranteed for up to an impressive five years, depending on product.
